The National Ventilator Project (NVP)
Simera Africa partnered with Simera Innovate to support the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in the National Ventilator Project (NVP) which provided enough ventilator resources for the rapidly growing demand during the first and second waves of Covid-19 in 2020.
Our team collaborated with SIEMENS using Siemens Teamcenter's Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Siemens NX advanced digital twin modelling software. PLM allows all companies working on the NVP not to waste time and effort while the product is going through its lifecycle. PLM improves the output allowing quick and controlled access to the design information. All the embedded workflows are linked to "live" stakeholder dashboards, where process data immediately add insight, allowing for optimisation.
Simera Innovate and Simera Africa are actively working alongside SIEMENS South Africa to help realise the CSIR's Future Factory strategic objective to digitally define, plan and execute the design and manufacturing phases of critical projects and become a leading showcase of applied Industry 4.0 technologies in SA.
